The Love Story Behind Table Number 7 At Savino's Hideaway
A couple went on their first date at this restaurant 23 years ago. Every year since then, they've celebrated at the same special table.

For this month's Love In A Small Town feature, we asked Patch readers to tell us the story behind a specific spot in town where they fell in love. For Judith Raczko, this spot is Savino's Hideaway in Mt. Sinai. Here is her story:
“I met my husband when I was working as a medical assistant in a doctor’s office. The first time he met me he asked me out, but I hesitated, having just met him. After many persuasive calls, I finally accepted. We saw each several times, meeting at Cedar Beach and taking walks on the nature path. With each walk in that beautiful and peaceful place, we became closer and closer. As we looked out on a beautiful sunset one evening, we had our first kiss and my heart melted!
We went on our first real ‘date’ at Savino's Hideaway, where he held my hand and said, ‘I love you.’ Two weeks later on my birthday, he took me to Savino’s for a birthday dinner and got down on his knee and proposed — I said, ‘Yes!’

We were married at East Wind Cottage and have been happily married ever since for the past 23 years. We live in Mt. Sinai and still take walks at Cedar Beach, sail our sailboat there and celebrate every anniversary at Savino’s Hideaway, where Rita always reserves our special table -- number 7 -- for us! We love our home and life here, the place where our true love first blossomed.”
