The man, who has not been identified, was found on the Greenway Trail, near Clifton Avenue, just before 1 a.m. by officers responding to a 911 call, Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer told Newsday. The officers, as well as a crew of paramedics from the Terryville Fire Department attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Charles McAteer, of Friends of the Greenway, said the group “continues to advocate for safety” on the trail, as well as “in the streets of our communities.”
“The trail is only officially open dawn to dusk and we encourage people to use the buddy system when utilizing any pathway,” he said. “We appreciate the quick response by SCPD and their ongoing investigation in this matter.”
