LI Detectives Probe Man’s Fall Down 14-Foot Hole At Work Site: PD
He fell in Port Jefferson Station at about 2 p.m. and has been taken to Stony Brook Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — Suffolk County detectives are now investigating the circumstances of how a man was injured in a 14-foot fall down a hole at a construction site in Port Jefferson Station, a spokesman said Tuesday night.
Sixth Precinct officers responded to a call of a man who fell into a hole at 1175 Rte. 112 at about 2 p.m., according to a police spokesman. The opening of the hole was about 4 feet by 4 feet and the man dropped about 14 feet, police said.
It is not clear if the man, whose identity has not been released, is a worker at the site.

Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the incident and the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, police said.
