Police ID Man Shot Dead In Port Jefferson

The man was shot on Main Street in broad daylight Wednesday, police said.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Suffolk police said the man killed in a shooting in Port Jefferson Wednesday afternoon was David Bliss Jr., 25, of Shirley.

Bliss Jr. was shot in front of 122 Main St. around 3:35 p.m., police said. He was found on the ground with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, police said.

Police are looking for the shooter. Detectives asked anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
