Port Jefferson Cross-Country Team Wins Divisional Meet

The varsity boys cross-country squad is set to next compete at the Suffolk County tournament next week.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Port Jefferson varsity boys cross-country team recently won its divisional meet at Sunken Meadow State Park, according to the school district.

Seniors Grant Samara and Brian Veit finished first and second, respectively, leading their squad to victory.

The team is scheduled to compete next at the Suffolk County tournament on Wednesday.

The seven-member team is comprised of seniors Will Ledezma, Grant Samara and Brian Veit; junior Gray Joyner; sophomore Teppei Fukuto and eighth-graders Ryan Sommerstad and Colin Veit. The boys are coached by Rod Cawley.
