Port Jefferson Girls Soccer Earn State Crown

Runner-up last year wins Class C championship with win over Elmira Notre Dame.

The Earl L. Vandermeulen High School varsity girls’ soccer team captured its first state title, earning the New York State Class C championship after defeating Elmira Notre Dame, 3-1, on Nov. 15.

“Our goal from the beginning of the season was to bring home the state title after losing in the finals last year,” Port Jefferson coach Allyson Wolff said. “The girls were determined and more confident this season. I’m so proud of them for this amazing accomplishment.”
