Port Jefferson/Huntington LIRR Branch Service To Be Reduced
A switch replacement project will cause reduced service on the line for three out of the four next weekends.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — LIRR service for the Huntington/Port Jefferson branch will be reduced for three out of the next four weekends, the company stated.
Major changes for the LIRR Huntington/Port Jefferson branch include:
On Saturdays (Sept. 7, Sept. 14 and Sept. 28), there will be NO train service between Hicksville and New Hyde Park. The LIRR strongly advises customers to use the Babylon, Hempstead or Montauk branches on each of the three affected Saturdays.

- Saturday Westbound: Trains will operate from Port Jefferson to Huntington and Hicksville, where customers will board a shuttle train to Babylon, then transfer to an express train to Penn Station. Express trains will stop at Jamaica for connecting service to Brooklyn and points west.
- Saturday Eastbound: Take an LIRR train to Babylon, where customers will board a shuttle train to Hicksville, then transfer at Hicksville for train service to stations Syosset to Port Jefferson.
On Sundays (Sept. 8, Sept. 15 and Sept. 29), trains will operate hourly between Penn Station and Huntington, and once every two hours between Huntington and Port Jefferson. Service changes will continue into early Monday morning.
On Saturdays the LIRR will suspend train service between Hicksville and New Hyde Park for a 24-hour period on each weekend as two tracks are removed from service. Revised train routes will require westbound customers from Huntington, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma to take a train to Hicksville, then board a shuttle train to Babylon, for connections with trains to points west. Eastbound customers will reverse the process.
