Port Jefferson Students Play Easter Bunnies, Fill Eggs For Kids

The high school's juniors put together 10 Easter baskets for children in a local shelter through Give Kids Hope, a local nonprofit.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Juniors at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson acted as Easter bunnies and put together gifts for children in a local shelter through Give Kids Hope, a nonprofit in Port Jefferson Station, according to a news release from the school district.

The Class of 2022 filled more than 200 plastic Easter eggs with candy and put together 10 Easter baskets for the children. All of the eggs, baskets, and candy were donated by families of the students.

Co-advisers Christina Carlson and Melissa Zinger helped organize the donation event for the treats along with students Alex Carlson, Kate Carlson, Kayla Daily, Lucy Dewitt, Heather Quiggle, Cami Spiller and Chris Wengatz.
