Port Jefferson Wrestling Team Makes Impressive Showing

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Port Jefferson School District wrestling team turned in a spectacular performance at the Louis D. Giani Sr. Invitational Tournament at Huntington High School on Nov. 30.

Students Anthony D’Elia and Liam Rogers won their individual weight class championships at 120 pounds and 113 pounds, respectively. Additionally, 11 other student-athletes placed in the top-six of their respective weight classes. D’Elia also received the Most Outstanding Wrestler award, voted on by the coaches.

The school district congratulates the following students:

• Second Place - Frank D'Elia (99 pounds), Anthony Evangelista (145 pounds), and Jack Niederberger (195 pounds)
• Third Place - Sam Robertson (138 pounds)
• Fourth Place - Brian Mahoney (285 pounds)
• Fifth Place - Jagger Celentano (220 pounds), Alex Rodriguez (106 pounds), Tyler Rogers (126 pounds) and Anthony Pipia (132 pounds)
• Sixth Place - Julian Nunez (182 pounds) and Lucas Rohman (152 pounds)
