Port Jeff's Cross Country Team Excels In National Disney Classic

The team placed first overall in the AA Division.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Earl L. Vandermeulen High School boys varsity cross-country team nabbed first place overall in the AA Division after competing against schools from across the country in the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, FL on Oct. 11 and 12, the school district announced.

The team includes juniors Owen Okst, Royce Perera, Jack Reilly, Grant Samara, Cooper Schoch and Brian Veit and sophomore Gray Joyner. Veit finished first overall.

Samara and Schoch also placed in the top 10, while Joyner, Okst and Perera placed in the top 20.
