Prohibition Owner To Open East Beach Concession Stand This Summer
The Port Jeff beach pavilion stand will serve tacos, light fare and"sippy cup cocktails" starting Memorial Day weekend.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY—Lisa Harris owns Prohibition in Port Jefferson and every time she visited East Beach on Village Beach Rd. she saw the shuttered concession stand. The concession hasn't been in use for years, but Harris imagined its potential.
The Port Jefferson village trustees and mayor also thought a revitalized concession would bring a welcome amenity to the village beach. Harris submitted a proposal that was accepted and Prohibition East Beach will open this Memorial Day weekend.
Harris will use the Prohibition restaurant kitchen to prepare the beach menu: a taco bar is planned along with fresh fruit, kids' menu options and other light fare. She is applying for a liquor license, she told Patch, hoping to serve cocktails in disposable pouches, as a kind of "adult sippy cup."

Prohibition East Beach will be open noon to dusk, roughly, weather dependent, and diners can eat at the on-site picnic tables or take their orders to go to their own beach chairs.
"I've been getting a great response," Harris said.

"Everyone is excited to resurrect the family-friendly beach concession stand and they are excited they can get a similar style of food [to Prohibition] down at the beach."
