If you’re like me, a theater lover, who is missing your theatrical fix, then you’re going to love Theatre Three’s new on-line series of short new works. Each of these plays runs under fifteen minutes, and they've been created or rewritten to accommodate this exciting online platform.

In an effort to find quality original content to accommodate this platform, Theatre Three put out an open call to playwrights for scripts, and in the first month alone, more than 200 plays were submitted. Playwrights-in-quarantine listen up: Theatre Three continues to accept submissions, and Jeffrey Sanzel, one of the finest directors any playwright or actor could ever be blessed to work with, is directing these plays. Submission guidelines can be found by clicking on the following: https://theatrethree.com/offstage-online.html.

The series debuted Sunday, May 3, with the comedy Taking Sum Lumps, by Ken Preuss, and starred Michelle LaBozzetta and Brian Smith. The dialogue was funny and the actors exhibited great comedic timing.

The next show was Phil Darg’s riveting drama, Trajectory, featuring Linda May and Stephen T. Wangner. I loved the special effects and Ms. May and Mr. Wangner were very convincing in their respective roles.

Subsequent plays included Phil Darg’s You Give Me Fever, with Melanie Acampora and Darren Clayon, who were excellent as two millennials navigating their way through and awkward post-Covid-19 phone call.

Rex McGregor’s Stage Fights Screen is a clever play featuring Meg Bush, Dennis Creighton, and Phyllis L. March. This play is a fascinating peek into the manipulative world of film and theatre. Once again, this short featured top-notch acting.

The excellent Technical production is by Tim Haggerty and Eric J. Hughes. You'll be amazed at just how polished and professional these productions are.

I’m really looking forward to June 3 and seeing Dear Mrs. Martin, which was written by Jeffrey Sanzel, who possesses the theatrical Midas touch.

A big round of applause goes out to Alan Schelp, who has generously sponsored this entire series.
