Psychology Lab at Stony Brook University is looking for families with children ages 10-14 to participate in our fun, new, compensated study!

Hello Families!

It’s that time of year again where kids are finishing up with classes and the inevitable “I’m bored, there’s nothing to do” starts. Looking for something fun and different to do with your kids that will introduce them to the world of science and research? The Social Developmental Neuroscience Lab at Stony Brook University is excited to announce it’s newest study, Forming Reputations and Investigating Electrophysiological Network Dynamics aka FRIEND, for families with children ages 10-14!

The study involves one-3 hour visit to Stony Brook University. Your family will be compensated $50 for the visit with a chance to win an extra $10 during your participation. The study consists of some questionnaires, computer games, problem solving games, and an EEG (electroencephalogram).

Some questions you may have include:
So what is an EEG?

  • EEG (electroencephalogram) measures the electrical activity of the brain. To do this, we place a cap, similar to a swim cap, that has some sensors, called electrodes, which will be attached to your child's cap using a water based gel. We will use these to measure your child’s natural electrical brain activity while they play games on our computer. There are no risks associated with EEG and it is painless and non-invasive. In addition, the gel washes right out with a little water! Our staff is fully trained in all visit activities and have all experienced the EEG.

All of our study activities are non-invasive, painless, confidential, and fun! If you’re interested in participating or want to learn more feel free to message our facebook page @Social Developmental Neuroscience lab, send us an email at sdnlab@stonybrook.edu or give us a call at 631-357-0998. You can even fill out this quick online survey and a member of our research team will contact you https://redcap.stonybrookmedicine.edu/surveys/?s=HWLLD7HYFC
