Weekend Snow Update: What To Expect On Long Island
Will our snow drought finally end? See the latest forecast.

It's been a miserable winter for snow lovers and that's likely to continue at least for the near future. Earlier this week, meteorologists were hinting at the chance for a nor'easter to hit Long Island this weekend, but that chance is now almost entirely out the window.
We could still see a little snow on Saturday. The National Weather Service says there's a 40 percent chance of snow and rain all day. No snowfall accumulations are expected, though.
In fact, "it's quite possible that the area stays dry this weekend," the weather service's New York office says in a forecast discussion Wednesday afternoon. "The trend is toward less impact."

"Blame the jet stream," weather.com says. "Most of the winter has lacked a persistent southward-dipping jet stream east of the Mississippi River, which has not only kept temperatures warmer than average, but has also steered storm systems to the north of the Ohio River and Mason-Dixon line."
