3 Minutes on a Park Bench with Andrew Wu of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty

We spoke to Andrew Wu, who told us how he maintains his edge over the competition.

We emailed Patch partner Andrew Wu of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty and he told us the best thing about selling homes in the Port Washington area.

Patch: Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty is the #1 brokerage in Long Island and Queen. How do you make sure you maintain that edge over the competition?

Andrew Wu: I believe that working for a top brokerage gives you a marketing and sales advantage over agents from other brokerages, but differentiating yourself from agents that are also in a top brokerage can help you get a listing. Its important to take continuing educations classes and attend seminars to further one's learning as that gives you a strong fundamental base to help you adapt to situations that might arise.

Patch: You are a licensed home and termite inspector. How has that experienced changed your relationship to selling homes?

Andrew Wu: For buyers, I can offer guidance and reassurance on visible issues in a home without having to first pay for an inspection. For homeowners, I can recommend certain items to be fixed prior to listing, which might unnecessarily worry some buyers or which may become an issue at the inspection.

Patch: What’s the best thing about selling homes in the Port Washington area?

Andrew Wu: I've become friends with so many of my clients and fellow associates from all brokerages. Of course, I cover much of the North Shore of Long Island and Queens, often teaming up with top agents within the company to help buyers and sellers get the best service for their real estate needs.

Patch: You're on the Executive Board of Directors for Asian Real Estate Association of America East. How has that helped your perspective on the real estate market?

Andrew Wu: I find that the ability to network and socialize with other top real estate-related individuals -- whether they be real estate brokers/agents, mortgage professionals, attorneys or developers -- has given me the opportunity to increase my knowledge while also expanding my sphere of influence. Everyone has different opinions and ideas, so listening to others who might have a different perspective, due to their particular industry or company, can only help you find a more accurate version of the truth. The benefits of being active in a large organization with over 35 chapters and 16,000 members looking to work together is an absolutely tremendous resource and is helpful to my business in all facets.

Patch: What's the biggest appeal for buyers in Port Washington?

Andrew Wu: Port Washington has great schools, wonderful restaurants/shops, friendly residents and one of the best LIRR commutes into NYC.

Patch: How can readers contact you?

Andrew Wu: Email: AndrewWu@danielgale.com is usually best, but my cell phone is a good 2nd option: 516-707-7299. To find out more about me, you can check out my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/PortWashingtonRealtor.
