5 Ways You Can Stay Cool During The Heat Wave In Port Washington
Here are five places Port Washington residents can go in order to stay cool during this weekend's heat wave.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Temperatures are expected to rise to nearly 100 degrees this weekend—without factoring in humidity. Here are some ways Port Washington residents can keep cool during the heat wave throughout the Town of North Hempstead.
- Manorhaven Beach Park & Pool: Located on Manorhaven Boulevard in Port Washington, this pool is equipped with water slides. Adults and children alike can have fun and stay refreshed. There are also spray features.
- North Hempstead Beach Park: You can find this beach on West Shore Road in Port Washington. The proximity to the ocean is perfect for taking a dip to cool off.
- Blumenfeld Family Park: This quaint but beautiful park includes water spray pads which could prove refreshing during a heat wave.
- Michael J. Tully Park: While this park is about 20 minutes away over in New Hyde Park, Michael J. Tully Park will be a multi-purpose spot for the looming heat wave. It's designated as one of the Town of North Hempstead's cooling centers, as well as one of the closest to Port Washington. It also has a pool for those looking to beat the heat with some fun. There are spray features and water slides, as well.
- “Yes We Can” Community Center: Located at 141 Garden St., Westbury, "Yes We Can" is one of the cooling centers in the Town of North Hempstead and probably the closest to most Port Washington residents. Hang out in air conditioning, sip cold water and relax while you escape weather in the 90s.
EDIT: The Port Washington Public Library will also be opening this Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. as a cooling center.
