Adopt Hallmark Channel 'Cat-letes' At Port Washington Event

Seven kittens and cats that were featured on the Hallmark Channel are available this week in Port Washington. Adoption fees are waived.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Seven kittens and cats featured on the Hallmark Channel will be up for adoption this week in Port Washington. And if that wasn't enticing enough, adoption fees will be waived for those approved to take home a furry friend.

The North Shore Animal League America is waiving adoption fees for all cats and kittens, including some so-called "cat-letes" — rhymes with "athletes" — that will be featured next year on Kitten Bowl VII and Cat Bowl II, the rescue told Patch in an email Wednesday. The Kitten Bowl will air Feb. 2 and the Cat Bowl will air the night before on The Hallmark Channel. The animals are pictured in the gallery above.

While the kittens do not have names — the rescue prefers that adopters be able to choose a name as a family bonding experience — the cats do have names.

To kick off the adoption event, the animal rescue on Lewyt Street will host a "Feline Friends & Family Evening" on Thursday. The four-hour event begins at 4 p.m. The fee-free cat adoption event will run through Sunday.

"Visit us this weekend and get ready to take home a lifetime of unconditional love," the organization wrote on its website. Those interested must be at least 21 years old. A spay or neuter deposit may still apply.
