After Early Deficit, Biden Snatches Lead Over Trump In Nassau

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — After a narrow early deficit, President-Elect Joe Biden has taken the lead in Nassau County over President Donald Trump.

As Patch previously reported, Biden trailed in Nassau County a day after Election Day with 280,115 votes to Trump's 286,633. The deficit came in a county that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won four years ago with 51.3 percent of the vote to Trump's 45.9 percent.

But the Nassau County Board of Elections received over 144,000 absentee ballots, about 73,000 of which were from registered Democrats compared to just 33,000 from registered Republicans. Ballots postmarked by Election Day can be received by the board through Nov. 10.

On Monday, the county Board of Elections website showed Biden snatched a roughly 15,000-vote lead, or about 2 percentage points, as many absentee ballots were tallied.
