Community Forum to Improve Neighborhood 'Livability'
A panel discussion and community forum will be held on Aug. 27 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port Washington Library.

A panel discussion and community forum hosted by the Port Washington Police Department will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27 to inform members of the community who work or live on the Port Washington peninsula about the ways in which they can preserve or improve the neighborhood’s “livability.”
Scheduled from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the Port Washington Library’s Hagedorn Room, the forum is open to all who live and work in the community. A panel will be comprised of members of the Port Washington Police District and representatives from local organizations like the Sands Point Police Department, Nassau County Police Department, Port Washington School District’s Transportation Department, Nassau County’s Department of Traffic Safety and others.
The goals of the Community Streets Initiative (CSI) are to discourage undesirable driver behavior, encourage safe pedestrian and bicycle use, improve the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers, involve community members in solving traffic problems and make efficient use of tax dollars by prioritizing requests for improvements.
