Dredging To Begin In Port Washington Boat Channel: Official
Officials say dredging the channel will begin soon, as the window to do so runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A boat-channel dredging project is set to get underway soon in Port Washington.
The Town of North Hempstead plans to dredge the Manorhaven channel soon as the window to do so runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte said in a Facebook post. Permit restrictions by external regulatory agencies limit the window for work to be completed. A contractor will make preparations for the project before Oct. 1 to begin mobilizing.
"Please note, that we will be eliminating access to the boat ramp, surrounding area and the south side of the parking lot," Dalimonte said. "It is estimated that ¼ of the entire parking lot will be used. The de-watering area will be active from October 1st into the late winter early spring weather depending."
