Former Sands Point Doctor Pleads Guilty To Jury Tampering At Rape Trial

Marshall Hubsher, who was convicted of rape, disguised himself and entered a private jury room back in March, the DA says.

An unlicensed psychiatrist from Sands Point who was convicted of raping one of his patients in 2012 pleaded guilty on Tuesday to dressing in a disguise and tampering with a jury while he was on trial back in March 2016, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Marshall Hubsher, 67, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree attempted tampering with a juror. He faces up to one to three years in prison when sentenced.

The DA says Hubsher disguised himself in court, entered a private jury room and taped falsified jury instructions to the tables and doors on March 21. The note gave examples of reasonable doubt, the DA said.

“[Hubsher] disguised himself and fabricated documents in an effort to manipulate jury deliberations on his case,” Singas said in a press release. “Preserving the sanctity and independence of juries is essential to the fair administration of justice, and any effort to tamper with a Nassau jury will be met with serious consequences.”

Surveillance footage shows Hubsher allegedly entering the courthouse wearing a leather jacket and baseball cap while holding newspapers. He then left the courthouse with the newspapers and returned a short time later dressed in a suit and using a walker, the DA said.

Hubscher has also been arrested for allegedly selling prescriptions for addictive drugs to patents for cash.

He is due back in court in August.
