Man Shoves Woman In Nassau, Then Spits On, Kicks Police: Cops

Police say the man is facing assault, menacing and harassment charges.

MANHASSET, NY — A Queens man has been arrested after police said he shoved a 62-year-old woman in Manhasset and then kicked, spit on and wrestled police officers.

Nassau County police were called around 6 p.m. Sunday for a disturbance near Northern Boulevard and West Drive. Hubert Lewis, 60, of Queens Village, had shoved a woman from behind, police said. He then ignored repeated commands and grabbed an officer by the shirt, police said. While officers were taking him into custody, he kicked, spit on and wrestled with officers, police said.

Two officers were taken to a hospital for injuries sustained and exposure to body fluids.

Lewis faces charges of 2nd-degree assault, 3rd-degree menacing, 2nd-degree harassment, 2nd-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

He will appear in court when medically practical.
