Manorhaven 9/11 Ceremony Canceled Due To Weather Forecast
Manorhaven Mayor Jim Avena nixed the outdoor ceremony due to expected rain and concerns over social distancing indoors, the village said.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Manorhaven officials have canceled a 9/11 ceremony planned for Friday citing a poor weather forecast and expected problems with social distancing indoors.
Mayor Jim Avena made the decision Thursday, the village wrote in a Facebook post.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment and look forward to next year’s 20th anniversary event. #GodBlessTheFallen," the village said.

The National Weather Service said there's a 20 percent chance of rain showers Friday and expects partly sunny skies with a high temperature near 76 degrees.
"It was going to be an outdoor event and, to have done it, we probably would've had to move it indoors, and I don't think we can socially distance people," village Clerk Sharon Abramski told Patch.
