Martha Knowles, a Lifelong Port Washington Resident, Dies At 100

A grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 12 and a great-great grandmother of one.

Martha Monfort Knowles, a lifelong resident of Port Washington, died on Jan. 31. She was 100.

Knowles was the owner and manager of Austin F. Knowles, Inc. Funeral Home. She was the beloved wife of the late George B. Knowles. Cherished mother of Katherine K. Holman (the late Jack P.), Mary Martha K. Marcotte (the late Kenneth R. ), Judith K. Edwards (James M.), Nancy K. Famiglietti (the late Mark A.), and Susan K. Michaels (Craig A.). Adored grandmother of 12, great grandmother of 15, and great great grandmother of 1. Also survived by sister-in-law Marylyn M. (Mary Lou) Monfort, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Reposing at Austin F. Knowles, Inc Funeral Home, 128 Main St., Port Washington, Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Religious service Thursday 11AM at the United Methodist Church, 35 Middle Neck Road, Port Washington. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Donations in her memory to St. Jude Chidren's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be greatly appreciated.
