Long Island Weather: May Gets Off To A (Mostly) Beautiful Start

LONG ISLAND, NY — The first full week of May is going to be a beautiful one, with only one day of rain predicted for the next few days, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are going to be warm all week. And unlike last week, there's not much rain on the horizon. There may be some local showers today, and there's a chance of rain Wednesday night into Thursday. Other than that, it's sunny skies all week.

The rest of the week will be cooler than today, though, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the 40s.

Today: Isolated showers after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 57. West wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Northeast wind around 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 59.
