MTA: LIRR Port Washington Branch Service Reduced This Weekend
The Long Island Rail Road plans to perform switch work over the weekend, affecting travelers between Great Neck and Port Washington.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The MTA plans to install a crossover switch over the weekend near the Great Neck train station and travelers on the Port Washington Branch should expect to take buses between Port Washington and Great Neck.
The MTA wrote on its website that Port Washington Branch service will be reduced from half-hourly to hourly Saturday and Sunday. Instead of trains, bus service will take travelers from Port Washington to Great Neck, the transit authority said. Travelers should expect up to 25 minutes of additional travel time.
The Long Island Rail Road plans to conduct switch installation work as part of the Great Neck Pocket Track Extension Project. Some service changes will continue overnight Monday and into the early-morning period, the MTA said. Morning peak service is not expected to be affected.
