No Swimming At 18 Beaches In Nassau County

The Nassau County Department of Health issued an advisory against swimming due to possibly elevated bacteria levels.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Nassau County Department of Health issued an advisory against swimming at 18 beaches across Nassau County, including 14 on the North Shore.

The advisory was issued Friday for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rain. Stormwater runoff elevate bacterial levels that violate state standards.

The advisory against swimming is effective Friday. Beaches will be reopened for swimming Saturday.

North Shore beaches affected include:

  • Centre Island Sound in Bayville
  • Creek Club in Lattingtown
  • Lattingtown Beach in Lattingtown
  • Laurel Hollow Beach in Laurel Hollow
  • Morgan Sound in Glen Cove
  • North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington
  • Piping Rock Beach Club in Locust Valley
  • Pryibil Beach in Glen Cove
  • Ransom Beach in Bayville
  • Theodore Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay
  • Sea Cliff Village Beach in Sea Cliff
  • Soundside Beach in Bayville
  • Stehli Beach in Bayville
  • Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing
