North Hempstead Announces Honorees For Women's Roll Of Honor

As part of Women’s History Month, North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Clerk Wayne Wink announced the honorees for the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor.

Until the pandemic, the Women’s Roll of Honor was celebrated as a breakfast event at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington. That tradition will continue when it is safe again to do so, with potential plans for late spring or early summer.

Event chairperson Wayne Wink said, “I am proud to honor these outstanding women for their incredible service to North Hempstead. Each of these women reflects the best that our communities have to offer and we are proud to honor them for their work.”

“We are proud to continue our tradition of celebrating all of these exceptional women who have made our community a better place to live,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “It is our honor to induct yet another extraordinary class to our Women’s Roll of Honor.”

Since 1994, North Hempstead has held the Women’s Roll of Honor breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their community, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public or private efforts. The Women’s Roll of Honor is named after the late May W. Newburger who served as North Hempstead Supervisor from 1994-2003.

The Town of North Hempstead recently premiered a video celebrating the 2020 Women’s Roll of Honor recipients in recognition of Women’s History Month. The 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Town honored recipients in a safe, socially distant manner.
