North Hempstead's 9/11 Memorial Service To Be Held Virtually
Here's when the service will air and how you can watch.
TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY — A virtual 9/11 memorial service is planned next week by the Town of North Hempstead amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials will hold the service Friday, Sept. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. The ceremony will air on North Hempstead TV channel 18 or 63 on Cablevision and channel 46 on Verizon FIOS. Residents can also watch the service through the town’s social media pages and on www.mynhtv.com.
"This is a sacred ceremony and my hope is that the virtual ceremony is just as moving as the in-person ceremony," Town Clerk Wayne Wink said in a statement. "We must always remember and honor the victims and first responders from September 11th in a special way."

Supervisor Judi Bosworth added: "Although, this year’s ceremony may look a little different, we invite everyone in our community to join us in recognizing the lives that were so tragically lost that day. We want to let the families who lost loved ones know that they will never be alone, and their loved ones will never be forgotten."
Anyone with questions about the service can call the clerk's office at 516-869-7610.
