Obituary: Patricia Rowland, 83, of Port Washington
Patricia was a resident of Port Washington for 56 years.

Patricia Paton Rowland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, died on September 11th after leading an energetic, full life.
A resident of Port Washington for 56 years, Pat was born in Manhattan on March 17, 1932. She attended Great Neck High School and received an AA from Principia College, with additional coursework at Long Island University and Oxford University.
Pat reveled in her career at Buckley Country Day School, where she taught music and history for 41 years. There she touched many lives with her creative third grade musicals, annual first-grade productions of The Nutcracker, and her infectious fascination with American history. During holiday breaks, she and Peter were avid sailors and world travelers.

Pat was committed to St. Stephen’s Church for many years and was involved in numerous social and operational aspects there. She especially enjoyed singing in the Church choir.
Pat leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Peter Rowland, and was a loving mother to Jeff Rowland (Amy) and Liz Rowland (Barry). She was the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth, Theodore, and Annie.

A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Port Washington at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Stephen’s Music Fund.
