Miss Oreo Ferguson, died August 18th in Port Washington, just short of her 135th birthday.
Although she was born in Tennessee, she moved to Port Washington when she was only 2 months of age where she took up brief residence at the North Shore Animal League before she met her adoptive family with whom she resided the rest of her life.
She was active in PAL baseball, several Civic Associations, always marched in the Pride in Port parade and actively participated in the United Methodist Church but her special love was for all of the friends she made over the years in Boy Scouts.

She was the troop dog for Pack 77, Troop 7 and Venture Crew 556 and never missed a camp out if she could help it. She took pride in her special responsibility of patrolling the campsite at Sands Point Preserve which she proudly kept free of raccoons so that all of her children were safe at night.
For the past 14 (dog) years her movements were hampered by severe arthritis which kept her at the sidelines of her ultimate Frisbee games and recently she stopped chasing raccoons but instead held court at the campfire observing with approval, all her generations of cub scouts, friends and family.
