Port Washington Boys Basketball Team Falls In Semifinal

The Vikings nearly defeated top-ranked Uniondale in the elimination game.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Port Washington boys basketball team fell in the semifinal to top-ranked Uniondale. The Vikings lost to the Knights 58-56 on Sunday on a late two-point shot following a missed Uniondale free throw and subsequent offensive rebound. The game was played at Farmingdale State College.

It was a tough loss for Port Washington (15-5), which led at the end of each of the first three quarters. Jalen Griffin and Christian Schwirzbin led the Vikings with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Dylan Trenaman added 10 points.

Uniondale (20-1) was carried by a magnificent performance from Jo-Jo Wright, who scored 24 points and added eight rebounds. Isaiah Joseph-Brock scored 10 points and two Uniondale players scored six points.

Uniondale now heads to the county championship against the Baldwin Bruins at NYCB Live's Nassau Coliseum. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday.
