Port Washington Girls Basketball Team To Play In Quarterfinals

The Vikings will tip off Wednesday night.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Port Washington girls basketball team will play Syosset in a tough playoff game this week. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Syosset High School.

The lady Vikings started the 2019-20 season scorching hot, ripping off five wins over their first six games. While the team lost that momentum, it still finished the year with a respectable overall record of 10-9, including 4-6 in Conference AA2.

Perhaps most importantly, the team has won two of its last three games.

The Vikings will have their work cut out for them Wednesday, as the team prepares to take on an unbeaten and hungry Braves team (18-0) that fell to Baldwin in the Nassau Class AA championship game last year.

Syosset has not played Port Washington this season, but the team looked sharp throughout the season, winning by double-digits 15 times. The team's closest game came in late December: a four-point win over Longwood. The last time the team won by fewer than 10 points: an eight-point win over St. John's Prep on Jan. 20.
