Port Washington Library Launches 'Kanopy' Video Streaming Service

Port Washington, NY – The Port Washington Public Library has just added Kanopy, a video streaming service, to their digital offerings.

Kanopy offers access to a diverse collection of more than 30,000 documentaries, movies, and educational videos for all ages. Their selection includes film titles you will not find anywhere else, including new releases and award-winning features, foreign films, classic films, documentaries, independent features, and experimental work that are not offered on other popular streaming platforms. Kanopy also features video courses on subjects ranging from dog training to yoga, money management skills to robotics – and everything in between. In addition to its distinctive offerings for adults, the service’s big draw is its Kanopy Kids selections. “Kanopy Kids is unique in offering you a 30-day pass to all the juvenile films and TV shows to keep your child entertained for the entire month,” said Jean Bennett, Port Washington Public Library Reference Librarian. Curated specifically for children, this collection offers classic kids’ television programs like Sesame Street and Arthur, movies, and virtual storytimes.

After creating a Kanopy account with their library card information, patrons can play up to 6 videos per month. Once a selection is made, they will have full and unlimited access to each title for 3 days (72 hours). The Kanopy platform offers streaming anytime, anywhere, and on any device: from desktop computers and TVs to tablets and smartphones.
