Port Washington Movie Studio Green-Lighted By Village: Report
Dubbed "Grumman Studio at Port Washington North," the 50-foot-tall complex is expected to be completed next fall, Newsday reported.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A film studio dubbed “Grumman Studio at Port Washington North” will be erected on the abandoned Publishers Clearing House property on Channel Drive in the village, according to a report in Newsday.
Property owner, Parviz Farahzad, has plans to use $20 million to convert the property into a film production complex as a sister location to Grumman Studios in Bethpage, where movies like "The Avengers" and "Ocean's Eight" were filmed, the outlet reported.
The studio complex, which will be completed in fall 2022, will be tiered, standing 50-feet tall at its center, according to the outlet.

Village Mayor Bob Weitzner told Newsday: “I think it’s a nice fit. I’m looking forward to the future. At Port North, welcome to Hollywood.”
Patchogue architect Alexander Badalamenti, of bld architecture, who represents Farahzad’s 101 Channel Drive, LLC, filed an application proposing to demolish the one-story structure on the property and build a two-story building for a movie/sound studio, according to the village's website. There will be a total of six film studios and "ancillary site work," including, but not limited to, landscaping and the placement of utilities, the village's website states.

The studio was approved during a recent meeting of the village board.
Back in September, Nassau County's Industrial Development Agency granted Farahzad a 15-year property tax reduction, a sales tax exemption of up to $776,250 for construction materials, and a $90,000 mortgage recording tax savings, the outlet reported.
The property, which has been abandoned since Publishers Clearing House relocated to Jericho, sold for $7.3 million in June 2014, according to propertyshark.com.
