Port Washington School Budget, Trustee Election Tuesday

Here's what you need to know before heading to the polls.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Residents in the Port Washington School District will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for a proposed $167 million spending plan for the 2021-22 school year and to elect three school board trustees.

The proposed spending plan represents a 2.48% spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 2.07% hike in the school tax levy.

Three seats are also up for grabs on the Port Washington Board of Education.

Incumbent president Nora Johnson, vice president Elizabeth Weisburg, and trustee Larry Greenstein, whose seats are up for re-election, are facing challengers Adam Smith, Adam Block, Justin Renna, and Nanette Melkonian.
