Port Washington Scores Victory Over Syosset In AA Semis

Port Washington now advances to meet No. 1 Uniondale in the 4 p.m. semifinal on Sunday at Farmingdale State's Nold Athletic Complex.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY—Port Washington basketball players are still riding high off their recent win against Syosett. During Wednesday’s Nassau Class AA quarterfinal, the vikings kept the braves at bay for a final 58-49 victory.

However, the win didn't come easy. According to a Newsday report, Syosett gave the vikings a run for their money up until the end of third quarter where the score stood at 40-40.

In the fourth quarter, Syosset led by one twice and last at 47-46 on Drew Breslow’s driving layup with 5:12 to play, the newspaper reported.

During the final quarter, the vikings knew they had to step up their game. Over the last 5:12, junior forward Dylan Trenaman had five of his 18 points and an assist and senior guard Jalen Griffin had four of his 12 points, two assists and two blocked shots, according to the newspaper.

Port Washington (16-4) now advances to meet No. 1 Uniondale (19-1) in the 4 p.m. semifinal on Sunday at Farmingdale State’s Nold Athletic Complex.
