PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Long Island Rail Road service in Port Washington will be impacted this weekend due to planned track work on the branch and a grade crossing replacement project in New Hyde Park that could lead travelers on other branches to use Port Washington trains.

A spokeswoman for the MTA told Patch on Wednesday track work is scheduled on the Port Washington branch. Port Washington trains will operate on different schedules and some connections will be affected. Those riders should use this special timetable schedule over the weekend. For all other service, use the Port Washington Branch timetable effective July 15 to Sept. 2.

In New Hyde Park, bridge replacement work is planned Saturday and Sunday impacting all branches, the MTA wrote on its website. As such, special weekend timetables will be in effect for all LIRR branches over the weekend, the MTA said.

The MTA also recommended Oyster Bay Branch riders consider traveling via nearby stations on the Port Washington Branch to reduce their travel time and transfers.

The Port Washington station has about 1,000 parking spaces and there are no restrictions on weekends and holidays. Nearby Manhasset has about 650 spaces, Douglaston has about 120 spaces and Little Neck has about 110 spaces. Those three each have daily fees.
