Port Washington Voters Approve $167 Million School Spending Plan
BREAKING: Nanette Melkonian, Adam Smith, and Adam Block were elected to the Board of Education.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Port Washington School District voters approved a $167 million spending plan for the 2021-22 school year and elected three school board trustees on Tuesday.
The budget passed with 2,580 votes in favor to 1,009 votes in opposition.
The proposed spending plan represents a 2.48% spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 2.07% hike in the school tax levy.

Nanette Melkonian, Adam Smith, and Adam Block garnered the top votes, defeating incumbents including president Nora Johnson, vice president Elizabeth Weisburg, and trustee Larry Greenstein.
Melkonian garnered 1,903 votes, Smith 1,524 votes, and Block 1,444 votes. Johnson received 1,307 votes, Weisburg 1,261 votes, and Greenstein 1,362 votes.

Smith and Block’s running mate, Justin Renna, recieved 953 votes.
