Town Suspends Metered Parking in Port Washington for Holiday Season
Shoppers in Port Washington can park for free on Small Business Saturday Nov. 29 and again from Dec. 4-24

Shoppers in Port Washington this holiday season can enjoy free parking, North Hempstead officials announced Tuesday.
The efforts begins on Small Business Saturday, a national event, which the town is sponsoring, on Nov. 29. That’s when all metered parking on Main Street will be suspended to encourage residents to shop locally. This effort is in conjunction with the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce. Parking will also be free in parking lots, as is normally the case on weekends.
Metered parking will be suspended again for Port Holiday Magic on Dec. 4, and continue through Dec. 24. Free parking will be available on Main Street as well as Port Washington Boulevard, Carlton Avenue, Haven Avenue, South Maryland Avenue, and Irma Avenue. Areas where parking is free will be denoted by red bags over the parking meters.
