U.S. Rep. Suozzi Hopes Biden Will Unite Country
"I pray that President-elect Joe Biden will be able to I bring our country back together again.": U.S. Rep. Thomas Suozzi

In a Facebook post, Suozzi, a Democrat from Glen Cove, filmed himself inside the U.S. Capitol building below the Apotheosis of Washington fresco above the rotunda, calling it the “sanctuary of democracy,” though eerily quiet as he reflected on the “great honor” it is to serve in Congress.
Speaking on the tension in the country since the events of Jan. 6, Suozzi touched on the unease of the occasion noting that a lot of people haven’t yet allowed themselves to be excited, but he wanted to “enjoy it a little bit.” Suozzi said he still has the same concerns “that things will go smoothly,” adding, “and I pray that President-elect Joe Biden will be able to I bring our country back together again.”

Suozzi was inside the Capitol two weeks ago when an angry mob pushed through the Capitol’s perimeter and gained access to the chamber, breaking windows and looting offices. On Wednesday, Biden is expected to be surrounded by unprecedented security as he takes his oath on the Capitol steps, according to CBS News.
