Volkswagen Stolen From Nassau Home's Garage; 3 Arrested: Cops

Police say someone entered a garage and drove off in a Volkswagen. Three men were arrested.

ALBERTSON, NY — Three people have been arrested after police said they were found inside a car that was taken from the garage of an Albertson home without the owner's permission.

The break-in and theft happened around 8 a.m. Thursday on Oak Ridge Lane, Nassau County police said. Investigators said an unknown person entered the garage of a home and drove off in a 2020 Volkswagen.

Officers found the vehicle on Taylor Avenue in Westbury and saw three men enter the car, police said.

Jamil Davistaylor, 18, and Shawn Harvey, 21, both of Hempstead, were taken into custody without incident. Curtis Williams, 23, of Freeport, ran and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police said.

Williams was charged with 2nd-degree burglary, 2nd-degree assault, 5th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, 3rd-degree criminal possession of stolen property and 3rd-degree grand larceny.

Davistaylor was charged with 5th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, 4th-degree criminal possession of stolen property and 3rd-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Harvey was charged with 2nd-degree burglary, 5th-degree criminal possession of stolen property, 3rd-degree criminal possession of stolen property and 3rd-degree grand larceny.

All three men were scheduled to appear in Mineola court Friday.
