Winners Revealed In Port Holiday Magic Window Decorating Contest

Two winners have been announced in the Port Holiday Magic Window Decorating Contest. Here's who won and what their storefront looked like.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Port Washington businesses did their best to decorate for the Port Holiday Magic Window Decorating Contest, and the results are in, with wit & whim and Suite 275 taking home top honors this year.

The contest featured a panel of judges as well as an online vote from the community. Judges awarded first place to wit & whim on Carlton Avenue, followed by Painting With Flowers and Port Pop Up Boutique, which tied for second place. Alper’s Hardware, meanwhile, was awarded third place.

Window contest judges included Rachel Fox of the Port Washington Public Library, photographer Roy Schneider of Vintage Production Group and Marsha Tarlow of the Port Washington School of Painting.

This year, residents for the first time were invited to vote online for their favorite decorated storefront. Seventeen stores in all participated. Taking home first place in the community vote was Suite 275 on Main Street. Port Pop Up Boutique took second place and Port Washington Florist took home third place.

The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce decorated the lampposts on Main Street with garland, twinkling lights and red bows to mark the season. The Business Improvement District installed illuminated snowflakes on utility poles and the group Residents Forward created a winter wonderland in the garden in front of the Long Island Rail Road station.

The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce noted that all contestants were winners, as their windows announced to everyone that they care about the community and promote the holiday spirit.

The chamber also encouraged residents to check out local special holiday sales going on throughout the season.
