16-Year-Old Slashed In Chest In Riverhead: Police
A 21-year old woman, who was also injured was charged with the slashing and with endangering the welfare of a child, police say,
RIVERHEAD, NY — A 16-year-old was slashed with a knife in Riverhead Tuesday night — and a 21-year-old woman was charged with the assault, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, the incident took place at 7:10 p.m. on East Main Street; the teen was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police said they also found Zhaneera Shabazz, 21, with injuries from an unknown person; Zhaneera was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

After an investigation by the Riverhead detectives, Shabazz was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Zhaneera was treated and then transported to Riverhead police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
