3 Injured In 3-Car Rollover Crash

One car was on its roof when help arrived, firefighters say.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — Three people were injured in a three-car crash in Center Moriches Tuesday, firefighters said.

According to the Center Moriches Fire Department, at 4:47 p.m., firefighters responded to the entrance of the Heatherwoods Community on Moriches Middle Island Road for a crash with injuries. Initial reports to 911 said there had been a multi-vehicle crash with one car overturned, fire officials said.

Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived to find three cars involved in the crash, one of them on its roof; the occupants of the overturned vehicle had self-extricated prior to the arrival of first responders, fire officials said. As EMS treated the injured occupants, firefighters secured the vehicles and helped remove the debris from the roadway, the fire department said.

Three people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries; the cause of the crash is under investigation by Suffolk County Police, fire officials said.
