WADING RIVER, NY — Four people stranded on a raft were rescued from the Long Island Sound Sunday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, Jose Argueta, 22, William Argueta, 22, Selvin Argueta, 16, and Noe Argueta, 19, all from Patchogue, were on a 10-ft. raft about a mile north of Wildwood State Park in Wading River on Sunday at 10:17 p.m. when they were pulled out on the Sound. The men had launched from the beach in Wading River to go fishing; the boat did not have a motor, and they were unable to paddle back due to the current, police said.

Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau Officers Greg Stroh and Mike Malone responded in Marine Delta, along with an aviation unit, and located the men within 15 minutes of the call, officials said.
