Patch: The single most pressing issue facing our community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Hubbard: The sale of the Epcal property. To have the buyers sign the contract so we can start receiving over $4 million in tax base and provide living wage jobs for our next generation.
P: What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?:
H: It’s simply experience. My work as a Riverhead school board member helped prepare me for the town board. I have contract experience. I also know this town as well as anyone can. As generations before me, I was born and raised here.
P: Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform:
H: I really work hard at making this town a place where our future generations can live and raise a family. Long Island is a very expensive place to live. I will increase our code enforcement to address the overcrowding of houses. This has a direct reflection as to the increased enrollment in our school district which in turn causes our taxes to go up. I will also fight to keep our hamlets of Wading River, Calverton, Aquebogue and Jamesport as rural as can be.
P: What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
H: I created the helicopter noise task force, located funding for downtown security cameras, and voted across party lines when it was the right thing to do
P: The best advice ever shared with me was ...
H: "Be true to yourself and always look at the big picture of things."
P: What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
H: I truly love working as your town councilman. I look forward to making Riverhead the best possible place to live. I love this town.
