Car Found Engulfed In Flames At Riverhead Park: Police

The car was found ablaze early Tuesday at a Riverhead park and playground; the blaze has been deemed suspicious, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Police are investigating a suspicious car fire in Riverhead, authorities said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, a report came in Tuesday at 4:21 a.m. about a car fully engulfed in flames at the Riverhead Town park and playground on Lewis Street.

The Riverhead Fire Department extinguished the blaze; no injuries were reported, police said.

Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, Riverhead detectives responded to the scene, along with the Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad for further investigation, police said.
