Before the results, Carter's mother Alonna thanked his hometown fans: "Thank you all for everything I’m so proud of my baby Carter... not just for making it this far, but for being the little man he has become. Please know that your support has meant more to us than you could ever know. The time you have spent sending your love in one way or another, sharing all of my posts, writing beautiful messages, asking people to vote, it’s hard to put in words. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. We will be celebrating this amazing experience no matter what the outcome on Tuesday, because Carter feels like he already won no matter what happens. Stefani, Carter's coach, was emotional Monday . "My heart is still beating out of my chest with nerves for you just because I care so much. I'm so happy for you. You're unbelievable. Just calm. It feels like you're just meant to be doing this and I know America is going to see that tonight and vote for you and you're just going to win the show. You're so special, and so gifted, and so natural — and I'm just so happy to be your coach and be a part of this," she said. "An amazing performance."
Carter told Stefani that he'd learned from her that success was about the entire experience, "the climb," and thanked her.

"It's really important for me to see the world through his eyes," Carter said. "He does see the world a little differently. And that's not a bad thing at all. It's quite beautiful."
