Rain is likely to fall for three straight days on Long Island thanks to a coastal storm. As a Mid-Atlantic low pressure system deepens offshore Wednesday, northeast winds will strengthen in the afternoon with gusts of 25-30 mph throughout the region.

"There is the potential for widespread minor coastal flooding and localized moderate flooding from Wednesday through Friday," the National Weather Service says.

The windy and rainy regime will remain in place Thursday and Friday as temperatures hover in the low 60s.

The offshore low will result in periods of rain and gusty north/northeast winds, with the highest-risk areas to the east and lower-risk areas west. Gusts close to 50 mph are possible Thursday and Thursday night on Long Island, especially on the East End.
